“Schools enjoy Hinckley RFC
Tag Rugby Festival 2007”
 Teams
from Burbage Junior School, Sketchley Hill and Holliers Walk
Primary School came together on Friday 29th June at Grove Road,
Burbage to contest the Finals of the Hinckley RFC Tag Rugby
Festival 2007.
These
were the year 4 finalists from some of the schools that had
participated in the Hinckley RFC Community Tag Rugby programme in
the 2006/2007 season. Hinckley coaches visit local schools for a 5
week coaching course and finish off the season with a 3 week
Festival of Rugby culminating in the Finals.
Fortunately
the weather held off for an enjoyable evenings rugby for all.
In
the first match a powerful Burbage team took on an enthusiastic
team from Holliers Walk and although Holliers Walk defended
resolutely, Burbage came away with a 6 tries to nil victory after
tries from Cammiss, Croasdale, Jackson, Lauder (2) and White.
Player of the match was Lauder.
In
the second match Holliers Walk began to show more confidence and
composure against an impressive Sketchley Hill team in an exciting
game that finished Sketchley Hill 7 – Holliers Walk 2. Tries were
from Ames (2), Collings, Downes, Nix and Wright 2 for Sketchley
and Taylor and Wainde for Holliers Walk. Player of the match was
Downes.
In
the closely contested final match Burbage pipped Sketchley Hill by
4 tries to 3 to claim the inaugural Hinckley RFC Tag Rugby
Festival for 2007. Tries came from Castle, Croasdale, Lauder and
White for Burbage and Collings and Wright (2) for Sketchley Hill.
Player of the match was Wright.

Holliers Walk – Arbuthnot, Brotherhood, Davis, Dexter, Ecob,
Gandy, Griffiths, Smith, Taylor, Wainde
The
finalists from Burbage and Sketchley Hill show great sportsmanship
as they celebrate together after the Hinckley Schools Festival
Final.
