“Fun Day launches Mini’s new season,
as Juniors declare ‘Open Season’ with first wins”

Our Minis teams marked the start of their season this weekend, with the Club’s Fun Day, welcoming lots of new players who turned up to try the exciting and fast paced game of mini-rugby.
The Minis teams progress from Tag Rugby in the 7’s and 8’s age groups, through to introducing contact rugby in the 9’s and 10’s ages, and then expand the numbers of players & pitch sizes in the 11’s and 12 age groups, which develops players towards the full game, in accordance with the RFU’s continuum. The Fun Day is a great example of the expanding Minis and Juniors section’s commitment to developing our rugby players of the future, as well as helping our young hopefuls develop great personal and teamwork skills. The hard work of the coaches and supporters at the club, who all follow best practice and have earned the RFU’s Seal Of Approval Accreditation for the club, has clearly paid off, in a great day for the youngsters…

The Under 13’s sponsored by J C Remedials, hosted Towcester in their first game of the season, and had a fantastic start to their game from the kick off, with excellent passing from the backs enabling Mechin to go through to score the first try for Hinckley. The game then settled down with most of the play in Towcester’s half. Hinckley won the ball from a well-executed maul and passed out to Machin who ran on and scored again for Hinckley with conversion by Tuilagi. The game was now in Hinckley’s favour, and with the forwards dominant in scrums and quick ball down the line, it wasn’t long before Tuilagi was released to go over the line for Hinckley’s third try. Half-time score Hinckley 17 Towcester 0.
In the second half both teams made big changes with subs and the game seemed to slow down a little but Hinckley still maintained good possession and territory.
A great first game of the season for Hinckley, with the lads putting up a great show after stepping up to the junior section. Final score Hinckley 17 -Towcester 0.

The Under 14’s sponsored by Williams Recycling, travelled away to Melton Mowbray, but overpowered their opponents, running in a succession of scores, and took the opportunity to play their full squad, gaining early season match experience.
