“U14’s vs. South Leicester – A
game of two halves…””
The
Hinckley Under 14’s, sponsored by Williams Recycling,
hosted South Leicester this weekend. Early end-to-end play made
for an exciting start to the match, but it was a well-executed
South Leicester back line move that set up a first corner score,
giving South Leicester an early 0-5 lead. Hinckley quickly bounced
back with another opposing back line move bringing full back
Gibson into the line, to create the overlap and South Leicester
confusion, enabling Gibson to punch through for a Hinckley score
under the posts. Hinckley then continued to press home their
advantage, with some great teamwork and forwards supporting play,
which moved the ball at pace across the field, stretching South
Leicester to breaking point. Hinckley built up a commanding lead
by half time, through tries by Cull, Redhead, Tom and Simpson (2),
with conversions by
Lally (2).
Hinckley
then rotated their team in the second half, to give their new
players match experience, but South Leicester were quick to adopt
their game to Hinckley's less experienced players, and started to
break through Hinckley defensive lines, using their outside centre
to create many of the moves, finishing strongly in the Hinckley 34
– South Leicester 31 result. Hinckley’s Man of the Match
was Simpson, for his powering runs off the base of the scrum.
