“U10s enjoy big day at Welford Road”

Hinckley RFC U10s visited Leicester Tigers training ground at Oval Park for a Coaching Clinic on 3rd November, before playing a match at Welford Road.

Players and coaches had a briefing from Tigers Community Coaches on arrival before an active training session in the morning, where they developed their skills and understanding of the game in an enjoyable and educational environment.

This was followed by a Q&A session where the players quizzed Leicester Tigers forward Tom Croft about his life as a professional rugby player and then they took a tour around the facilities at Oval Park with an opportunity to meet players and get autographs and spot a few of their heroes.

In the afternoon they joined other teams in a procession around the pitch in front of a crowd of over 17,000 and a large TV audience before watching a convincing victory by Leicester Tigers over Cardiff in the EDF Energy Cup.

They finished off the day by playing Loughborough on the Welford Road pitch in a runners up match for the Prima Tiger Cup and won a brilliant game 20 – 5 with superb play all round in attack and defence with all the players well fired up by now. Tries came from Houghton, Reeves and 2 from Baker in an entertaining game.  Man of the match was Baker.

They continued with a development game against Loughborough and quickly stormed into a 10-0 lead with tries from Croasdale and Lauder before Loughborough clawed their way back into the match to take it 10-15 at the death.  Man of the match was Lowndes.

A great day all round.
