“Electricity Alliance sponsor
Hinckley RFC Community Rugby Programme”

Electricity
Alliance have become main sponsors of the Hinckley RFC Community
Rugby Programme, which was piloted in 2006 to introduce rugby into
local Primary schools in the Hinckley region.
Fergus
Campbell from National Grid said “The Electricity Alliance between
National Grid and Balfour Beatty are delighted to sponsor this
initiative and to support the local Community by helping Hinckley
Rugby Club to introduce rugby into schools”.

Trained
Hinckley RFC coaches visit schools to provide a 5 week
introduction to rugby to boys and girls from year 2 to year 6. At
the end of the season participating schools get together for a
Festival of Rugby and the winning school gets to keep the
Electricity Alliance Champions Trophy for a year.
Graham
Chilvers, Strategic Sports Officer from Hinckley & Bosworth
Borough Council, was impressed when he attended a recent coaching
session and presentation with St Mary’s Primary School in
Hinckley. He said “It’s wonderful to see the children really
enjoying playing rugby. It’s a great way to get children involved
in active sports”.

The
children from St Mary’s Primary School are pictured here proudly
displaying their course certificates with Hinckley RFC coaches Sam
Swift and Tom Cubisen, and Graham Chilvers from HBBC.
