Hinckley
Under 13’s sponsored by JC Remedials and Stoney Stanton
Fish & Chip Shop, took the game to Lutterworth in the opening
minutes. Lutterworth soaked up the pressure and turned the ball
over in the scrum to pass down the backs to run to score under the
post and convert. Hinckley put in a great attack, which took them
to the 5m line. Fantastic work by the Hinckley forwards resulted
in a great drive over the line and a score for Phillips, which was
converted by Tuilagi. Half time score Lutterworth 7 - Hinckley 7.
Hinckley
had a great restart and dominated in possession. Lutterworth won
the ball though and passed down the backs to their star man who
went on to run full pitch to score under the post and convert for
maximum points. Hinckley were caught again soon after the restart
and Lutterworth punished them with another try and conversion.
Hinckley fought back with a great team effort and good work from
the forwards to enable Norton to score for Hinckley, which
unfortunately wasn’t converted. With more good work from the
forwards and a fantastic run from Brink, who took the ball to the
line to score for Hinckley. Hinckley continued to dominate the
game but ran out of time to get that elusive winning score. Full
time score Lutterworth 21 - Hinckley 17.
The
Under 14’s, sponsored by Williams Recycling, faced an early
stalemate against Lutterworth in their first match, with neither
side breeching the other’s defences in the first half. Hinckley’s
pressure started to tell in the second half when successive phases
of play by Hinckley moved the ball out wide with Abelson going
over in the corner. A short while later saw the Lutterworth
defence stretched at the other side of the pitch with winger Cull
breaking through in the 10-0 win for Hinckley.
A
second development game saw some early end-to-end action as
mistakes were made and exploited by both teams. Lutterworth scored
first, however Hinckley’s Barlow soon restored an even score line
with the support of his pack. Lutterworth then managed another
break going ahead 10-5 at the break. The Hinckley Development team
put together some great forward phases of play and threatened the
Lutterworth line several times, but a converted Lutterworth try in
the second half just clinched the result Hinckley 5- Lutterworth
17. However the efforts of the Hinckley development lads were well
noted by the coaches, many of who will be challenging for main
team positions, given their committed performances.
