“Juniors in action against Loughborough”

Hinckley Under 13’s, sponsored by JC Remedials and Stoney Stanton Fish & Chip Shop had a good start in their match against Loughborough, with possession and territory advantage. Early Hinckley pressure through a great attacking move was well defended by Loughborough, managing to hold up the try. Hinckley pressure continued though and the first score was secured through a charge down by Smalley. Hinckley was then caught out by Loughborough who managed to score. Hinckley continued to put pressure Loughborough, who again defended well with another try held up. A great run by Phillips to gain good ground set up a good Hinckley position and a great try by S.Orton. Loughborough then came back to score a try and conversion. The half time score Hinckley 10 Loughborough 12 reflected the closeness of the match. The second half saw further even play with little running of the ball from both teams. Loughborough managed a break away try under the post which put them 5 points ahead and Hinckley piled on the pressure but were unable to get the much needed try. Final score Hinckley 10 - Loughborough 17.

The Under 14’s, sponsored by Williams Recycling, received a rude awakening to ’08 in their match against a hungry Loughborough side. Following a first half stalemate and an opening score by Loughborough, Hinckley bounced back through tries by Wilson and Cull, converted by Lally to take the lead 5-12. However just as Hinckley looked set to open up their game, a tenacious Loughborough dug deep and pulled back two tries in quick succession to take the lead 15-12. A battle of forwards followed, with some exciting and end-to-end play, in which Hinckley’s Simpson powered over to regain the lead for Hinckley 15-17, but Loughborough’s passion and work rate won through and two more scores secured the win 27-17.

Hinckley Under 16’s, sponsored by J & H Construction Ltd, reversed their earlier season Cup result, whilst away at Loughborough with some determined play. Against the conditions in the first half, Hinckley had the better of possession and went to half time with a Crooks try with Oglesby conversion, plus a Baxter try. Their confidence grew at the turn round and by moving the ball out of contact quickly, tries flowed from Pearson, Oglesby, Rowan and Barsby with a couple of late scores from Loughborough leaving Hinckley with their honour recovered, in the Loughborough 10 - Hinckley 32 result.
