“Hinckley develops it’s
Juniors”
Hinckley
Under 14’s sponsored by Williams Recycling and Promet
Steel, enjoyed a development fixture at Melton Mowbray this
weekend. A switched on Hinckley pack were soon mauling up Melton’s
territory and a breakaway by Hinckley’s pack saw the opening try
claimed by Hinckley’s prop Moran. The forwards’ form continued
with flanker Wilson, and No8 Simpson also going over, with Cull
converting. As spaces opened up, Hinckley’s backs threatened, and
successive phases of play eventually set up a piercing run and
score by Cull, who converted his own try for a half-time lead,
0-24 to Hinckley. Melton’s half-time team talk however worked
wonders as they opened the second half with two quick forwards
tries, both converted, taking the score to 14-24, as they set
about taking the game to Hinckley. With Melton sensing a
turnaround was just within grasp, the Hinckley lads reacted and
dug deep. A Melton mistake gave Abelson the gap he needed to score
and extend Hinckley’s lead 14-29. Melton to their credit never
gave up and surging runs by their No8 and Centres combining,
managed to break the Hinckley defences for a final score 19-29. A
great result and enjoyable game for the newer lads of the Hinckley
squad, with Man of the Match awarded to Harvey, for his
relentless hard work in the loose.
